2nd Butterfly & Insect Photographic Competition Official Rules & Regulations

Please read our photographic competition rules & regulations carefully (last ammended 23 Oct 2010):

1. The photographic contest is open to all Malaysian citizens and foreign visitors. Employees of Penang Butterfly Farm are not allowed to participate in the competition. To participate please fill up the online registration form above and download the Photograph Submission Form.
2. Each participant is required to pay a registration fee of RM30. The fee needs to be paid in cash on your first day of participation. This supporting fee also contributes to the Bring Back The Yellow Birdwing and the Save Homerus! butterfly conservation fund.
   Participation also allows for multiple entries into the farm at no extra cost during the competition period of 15th October - 17th November 2010 upon verification of your I/C / passport at our entrance.
3. All photographs must be taken within Penang Butterfly Farm locality only. Participants must bring their own camera and equipments.
4. Participants agree not to harm, remove, displace or take home any of the insects or creatures inside the farm.
5. Participants can be disqualified at any time without notice if they have breached any of these rules & regulations.
6. Penang Butterfly Farm cannot be held responsible for any unforseen circumstances or accidents which occurs inside the farm locality or in the the event of loss, personal injury, or death as a result of participation in the competition.
7. Participants can send in as many entries as they wish, however a participant can only win one (1) prize or place. Each entry must be accompanied by the date of the image was taken.
8. No digital super imposition is allowed. Composite photographs or any form of digital manipulations will not be accepted. Only minor image touch-ups such as cropping, adjustment of brightness and colors as well as softening or sharpening of the image are allowed.
   
9. Images submitted must be in a printed copy of an 8R (8 inch x 12 inches) size photo paper and also its digital copy in a CD/DVD of JPEG format only. The size of the image shall be no smaller than 3MB and in 300dpi. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
10. All photographs submitted must be originally produced and must have not been sold or granted permission to use to any other party. Penang Butterfly Farm (Butterfly House (Pg) Sdn Bhd) shall be given complete right to use, display and reproduce all submitted photographs for any purposes without any notice.
11. Judging and assessment of the photograph will be based on technical quality, composition and uniqueness. However, photography of human, mascots and scenery will not be accepted by this photography competition. The judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entertained.
12. All winners will be invited to a Prize Giving Ceremony on the date determined by the organiser. Winners will be notified by telephone or via e-mail. Any other costs such as cost of travelling and food is to be borne by the winners.
    Penang Butterfly Farm reserves the right to substitute the prizes with equivalent value.
13. The closing date for the submission of photographs is by 4.00pm, 17th November 2010. Submission after the stated date & time shall not be entertained. Proof of delivery will not be accepted as proof of submission. You may submit by post or by hand to:
